Partnership
• This is a City of San Diego project on a City owned bridge
• The State is a partner in order to facilitate the engineering
• The Federal government is funding the majority of the
construction cost
• The State has contributed close to $5 million

SUMMARY OF PROJECT
• Rehabilitate external surface concrete & power wash
bridge
• Make it STRONGER
1. Retrofit the columns with more concrete and tensioned cables
2. Tie it horizontally with post tensioning and steel pins - to restrain the mid-span joints
3. Deck: Replace existing pavement , improve deck drainage
• Abutments: Rehabilitate all concrete, improve access for inspectors
• Install accent lighting
