Work History

2006

Elm Park Primary School - Year 4, 5 and 6 Endeavour Learning AdvisorTeam Teaching with a class of 60 mixed sex and ability children. Facilitating learning in all curriculum areas.

A pilot programme initiated by Pauline Mundie (Principal) with the vision to go outside traditional teaching methods and focus on the natural motivation that happens when a child’s curiosity is sparked. Extremely well resourced with all the latest technological classroom applications available. Parents had to make applications for their child to participate, this process was to ensure the parents ‘bought’ into it also, as we required parent assistance in class and on excursions.

Programme ran based on adaptions of the Inquiry Learning Model and from The Discovery School vision in Christchurch.

Was a very successful year, where all involved greatly benefited from the experience. Personally I grew exponentially during this period. The programme did not continue as The Principal resigned due to personal reasons and my colleague who worked with me soon followed. However I have been able to make some influence throughout the character of our school, and Inquiry type learning is now facilitated school-wide.
