Call to Worship
PSALM 95: 1-7
Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a
joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!
Let us come into his presence with thanksgiv-
ing; let us make a joyful noise to him with
songs of praise! For the Lord is a great God,
and a great King above all gods. In His hand
are the depths of the earth; the heights of the
mountains are his also. The sea is His, for He
made it, and His hands formed the dry land.
Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us
kneel before the Lord, our Maker! For he is
our God, and we are the people of his pas-
ture, and the sheep of his hand.

Mustard Seed Faith
A Faith that Works
In Matthew 18, Jesus impresses upon his
disciples what just a little faith can do. In
my years of preaching and ministry, I have
witnessed many tests of faith. Life, with all
of its challenges, can often deal you the
kind of blow where the only option you have is the belief op-
tion. This is a time when you can do nothing but trust in God.
Almost every condition you can think of will arise in our life-
times. How we respond to situations can often make the dif-
ference in the outcome. However adverse the setting, faith
says that God can.
It is so very important in today’s cultural climate to know
that God works all things after the counsel of his own will
(Ephesians 1:11), which means that he moves in his own time
and in his own way. Our faith must be firm to the extent that
we believe in his ability to work in us and through us to ac-
complish the seemingly impossible. To trust in him in all that
we do or attempt to do magnifies in us the faith that works,
simply because the God we serve is faithful to his promise.
Even if the size of your faith is tiny, look at what a little faith

February Focus: Virtue | Definition: Excellency of Character
II Peter 1:5-8 says, “For this very reason, make every effort to
supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowl-
edge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with
steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godli-
ness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with
love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they
keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowl-
edge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
