For over 25 years, See You at the Pole has been about one single act — prayer. SYATP is still about students uniting themselves in prayer before God interceding for their generation.

See You at the Pole Day is Wednesday, September 27 at 7am . All around the globe, in every time zone, students will be gathering at their flag poles praying for their school, friends, family, churches and communities. This is a day committed to global unity in Christ and prayer for this generation.

Join us for the SYATP Rally on Sept. 27 at 6:30pm. We will be assembling at the Middle School. Come on out and be blessed by hearing what God is doing among the students of our local schools.

We will be ordaining 4 Deacons on Sept. 17 at 6pm. Please come out for this spe-cial service. Our Deacon candidates are Kerry Jones, Bill Moore, Jeremy Bennett,

and Tyler Billman. Please pray for these men as they seek God’s heart for service to the DBC family. After the service, we will have a fellowship. We ask our DBC family to bring finger foods.

Kids for Christ is coming to Harrisburg. This will take place at East Side school and it will be for grades K thru 5th. We will model the program

and train Harrisburg volunteers the first 4 weeks of the program. Harrisburg will meet on Fridays after school beginning Oct 13-Nov 3. There will be an informational meeting for all new volunteers at the Har-risburg Park Community Building, 921 Poplar Street on Sunday, today at 1:30 pm. Rachyl Rister. Our first practice will be held today at 5pm. The musical

performance will be held on Sunday, Dec. 10 at 10:15am. Rachyl’s number

is 926-1020. The musical will be performed by young people in

first grade and up.

Sept. 11 is the annual picnic at the Saline Baptist Asso-ciation Center. We will be entertained by the musical

group, “Voice of Praise”. We will start at 6pm and bring a lawn chair.

The annual back to school BASIC (brothers and sisters in Christ) event at SIC is need of cookies for their event. We need to have cookies to McKinley Ave. Church in Harrisburg by 4pm on Tuesday, September 19th. They would like to have between 80-100 docook-ies for this event. High School lunches will be served on

Mondays while school is in session. They will start on Monday, Sept. 11 at 11am.

The HHS Homecoming Parade will be on Sept. 14 at 3pm. This is a great time to represent our church and support our HHS team. Dorrisville will be passing out informational flyers

and Operation Christmas Child will be represented in the parade.

On Oct. 21, there will be a baby shower for Lynn Gibbs and expected baby, McKenize Lynn. It will be a “Come & Go”

shower held at 1pm in the fellowship hall. The shower will be given by the Pink Disciple Sunday School Class, Robin Johnson

and Trish Huffman (sister Of Lynn). Lynn is registered at Wal-Mart, Target and Babies-R-Us.

If you want to help hurricane victims, please donate now to project H.U.G. by giving money or any hygiene product. One hundred per-cent of donations do go to victims. The Mercy Center is the drop off site for new (trial size) hygiene items such as: shampoo, condi-tioner, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, wipes, washcloths, combs, tissues, feminine products, baby care products, gallon zip lock bags. There will be a Keenager outing on Oct. 6, We will meet at the

church at 8am and go to Rendlemans and Flamms Orchards, and

then to Bald Knob Cross. We plan to eat at Giant City Lodge.

Also, those of you that are signed up for the Christmas Trip need

to get your money ($15) into LaVern.

Our Fall Family Bike Ride and Picnic will be on the afternoon of Sept. 24. All who want

to ride bikes need to meet on the church parking lot and bikes will be loaded at 2pm.

We will transport your bike to Tunnel Hill and all of us will ride down to Vienna Park. We will meet with the rest of the church

family for a picnic. Please bring food to go along with “burgers and dogs”. Also, don’t

forget the desserts! Come on out and fellowship with your church family.

Illinois Disaster Relief training will be held on October 13-14 at Lake Sallateeska Baptist Camp near Pickneyville. The cost for new volunteers is $40, Badge Renewal is $10, Yearly Training is $10, and Overnight $10, Courses Offered: Disaster Relief 101, DR Chaplaincy, Chain saw, Flood Recovery, Assessment, Search & Rescue, Child Care, Communications,

Needed for service: Mass Feeding trained volunteers, Chaplains, Gold (Yellow) caps-We need all hands to be ready,

IBSA aids churches in reaching children with the Gospel, and

equipping students as tomorrow’ leaders through VBS, missions events, Youth Encoun-ter, and conference centers at Lake Sallateeska and Streator.

The Mission Illinois Offering supports a variety of missions led by the Illinois Baptist State Association. Together with almost 1,000 partner churches and church plants, we as a church can reach out across Illinois with the Gospel is several ways. Please make it a point to pray for State Missions this week.
