HIKMA regards itself as a plat-form for the advancement of the-ory construction in Islamic theol-ogy and religious education and for enhancing the practical or-ganization of Islamic religious life in Europe, and in particular in the German speaking areas. HIKMA publishes articles on all kinds of topics concerning theology and religious education, on all learning institutions of Islamic religion as well as on the philosophy of sci-ence concerning religious educa-tion on a local and global scale.

Two topics will be the center of attention, shaping the periodical’s profile: the integration of Islam in the European, particularly the German, school systems and the discourse on Islamic religion and culture in the European context. At the same time, much emphasis is placed on processes of integra-tion and transformation of a Mus-lim minority in societies which are strongly influenced by Christianity and secularity and the repercus-sions of these processes.

The guidelines of the journal arise from its objectives:

a) Multi-perspective (both, the “in-ner” and the “outer” perspective)b) Platform for basic and empirical researchc) Internationalityd) Inter- and multi-disciplinarity

We look forward to your submis-sions in English or German.
