A Special Session on “Sustainable Development of Vehicles: design, power management, sensing and control” will be organized in IEEE EEEIC and I&CPS Europe 2017 Conference, Milan, Italy.
Development of sustainable vehicle technology is a new frontier for electric, electronics and mechatronics engineers. Improvements of sustainability does not involve only an improve-ment of efficiency of electric power trains but also a general advance of sensor and control systems, including the development of alternative sustainable transportation systems. As exam-ple, development of autonomous vehicle involves not only an improvement of the efficiency in terms of optimization, but it's the occasion to re-think the vehicle considering the possible absence of a human driver and its consequences in terms of vehicle design, usage and perfor-mances opening the way to a complete redesign of conventional and unconventional propul-sion systems:
• Sustainable Design of Electric Rail and Road Vehicles• Advanced propulsion, Control and Sensing of autonomous vehicles including, marine, aerial and ground drones.
