Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does the speaker selection process work? A: The PARTNERS Steering Committee reviews and scores each application submitted

through the website. Generally, the highest scoring applications that align with the established conference elements will offer our global conference attendees the best-in-class content they have come to expect. The conference elements are a balance of a wide variety of topics, levels of complexity, technical or business perspectives, industry, and region. Also taken into consideration is a balance of “speaker type” (i.e., Teradata Customer, Teradata Subject Matter Expert, Partner, Consultant, Analyst, and Academic). The committee strives to place as many customer speakers as possible to address the diverse, global user community.

Q: How many speakers from my company can be selected? A: A very limited number of speakers from the same company will be selected. This allows

the committee to offer global attendees an impressive breadth and depth of topics, speakers, companies, industries, and regions for the conference content.

Q: When and how will I know if I’m selected? A: All speaker applicants will be notified of their selection status (accepted, alternate, or

declined) via email beginning May 17. Q: If I’m selected, when are my presentation materials due? A: The deadline to upload the final version of your presentation is July 19, 2016. This

lead-time ensures your session content is prepared and allows you ample time to prepare for your onsite delivery. Sessions that do not meet the deadline will be reviewed by the Partners Steering Committee and may be removed from the conference schedule.

Q: What does it mean to be selected as an “alternate” speaker? A: There are a limited number of sessions. High-scoring submissions with desired

conference elements that are not initially placed on the schedule are invited as “alternate” speakers. In the event of a cancellation, alternate speakers can be placed on the conference schedule as late as one month prior to the conference.

Q: What if I have scheduling restrictions on when I’m available to present? A: Placement on the conference schedule is at the discretion of the Partners Steering

Committee. Speaker candidates should indicate their restrictions on the speaker application. Scheduling consideration will be given prior to speaker selection.

Speaker Expenses

Q: If I’m selected as a speaker, do I receive free, full-conference registration? A: The PARTNERS User Group will provide one free, full-conference pass to each of the

selected primary speakers. Primary speakers are limited to one free, full-conference pass, regardless of the number of sessions they present. With the exception of the primary speaker, all speakers pay the conference registration fee in effect at the time they register.

CALL FOR PAPERS 2016

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: As a primary speaker, can I give my free, full-conference registration to my co-presenter or a panelist?

A: No, as the primary speaker, you alone are entitled to the free, full-conference registration. The speaker pass is not transferable.

Q: Are travel and hotel expenses paid for speakers? A: No. All speakers are financially responsible for their travel and hotel costs.

Speaker Support

Q: What resources are available for the selected speakers? A: There are numerous resources available to selected speakers. The Resource Center is

a dedicated microsite with information to enable speakers to fully manage their participation as a speaker at the conference. Personal Presentation Coaching Service will also be available, funded by the PARTNERS conference. The coaching service is limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Speaker communications include detailed information on all the resources.

Q: Will there be a place to meet the speakers? A: The conference will provide ‘Speaker Kiosks’ at the end of each session throughout the

week. The Speaker Kiosks will be placed in the common areas. Speakers are required to be available for 10 minutes immediately following their presentation so session attendees will have the chance to continue their discussion on the speaker’s topic.
