California Volunteer Matching Network

• Launched in October 2006 as an initiative of First Lady Maria Shriver

• Provides a searchable database of more than 45,000 diverse volunteer opportunities

• Housed at CaliforniaVolunteers.org – a website that connects virtually all Californians to local volunteer opportunities

Page 3: California Volunteer Matching Network Overview CaliforniaVolunteers

• Website aggregates opportunities from Hubs and virtual volunteer matching sites

• “Hubs” = volunteer connector organizations (Volunteer Centers, Hands On affiliates, etc.)

• Currently 27 Hubs serve 46 counties (over 85% of California’s population)

• Hubs help local nonprofits and public agencies identify, develop and post community volunteer opportunities

How CVMN Works

Page 4: California Volunteer Matching Network Overview CaliforniaVolunteers

Volunteers indicate the volunteer cause they are interested in and where they want to serve. This generates a list of appropriate opportunities.

Volunteers click on the opportunity they are interested in to learn more about it and to sign up
