Planning Committee

FACULTY

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the American Thoracic Society and California Thoracic Society. The American Thoracic Society is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The American Thoracic Society designates this live activity for a maximum of 13.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The California Thoracic Society approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider # CEP599 for 13.5 contact hours.

The course meets the requirements for CE for RCPs in California.

ACTIVITY SUMMARY:The 15th Annual Carmel Conference gathers regional and national experts to discuss the latest advances in respiratory medicine. The diagnosis and management of interstitial lung diseases (ILD) is one of the most complex tasks faced by physicians, advanced practice and allied health professionals. Friday’s program focuses on the multidisciplinary approach to this heterogeneous group of diseases with an emphasis on fundamentals, including diagnosis, radiology, management, as well as symptom control and newer drug therapies.

Day Two of the program continues with lung cancer, with updates on approaches to staging and new biologic therapies, then concluding with a multi-disciplinary panel and case review. After lunch, the program reconvenes with bronchiectasis as the primary topic and includes talks on primary ciliary dyskinesia and cystic fibrosis, among others.

TARGET AUDIENCE:The program is designed for all health care professionals involved with the care and treatment of patients with lung cancer, bronchiectasis, and interstitial lung disease, as well as corollary health issues. This includes physicians, respiratory therapists, NPs, PAs, RNs, CNSs, pulmonary fellows, pharmacists and scientists.
