California State Legislature Member Resolution No. 937, December 10, 2000 By the Honorable Don Perata, 9th Senatorial District; and The Honorable Wilma Chan, 16th Assembly District; Relative to Commending Allan Shore WHEREAS, Allan Shore, a distinguished California resident, has brought credit and distinction to himself through his active participation in local and state activities, and it is appropriate at this time to highlight his many accomplishments and to extend to him special honors and the highest commendations; and WHEREAS, A respected leader in the Alameda area, Allan Shore has amassed 15 years of experience in community-based social, education, and health services, and at the present time is employed by Xanthos, Inc., which each year provides comprehensive assistance to more than 7,000 individuals and families in the East Bay and Alameda; and WHEREAS, At the present time he is a member of Alameda’s Transit Committee and Fourth of July Parade Committee, the Alameda Kiwanis Club, the working committee of a children, youth and families collaborative and the Design Review Committee of the Alameda Point Collaborative’s Building 101 social services support center, and he was a founding member of Out On The Island and is a past President of the East Bay Lesbian/Gay Democratic Club, and is a former member of the Executive Committee of the Alameda County United Way’s Funding Emphasis Task Force, and a political appointee to the Drug Abuse Advisory Board and the Human Relations Commission, both in Contra Costa County; and WHEREAS, Allan Shore has contributed extensively to the people of California through his support and defense of one of the nation’s most precious rights—the right of citizens to organize and participate in our democratic political system, and he has recently completed his second term as President of the City of Alameda Democratic Club, and under his leadership, the club was selected by the Alameda County Democratic Central Committee as Club of the Year for 2000; and WHEREAS, The contributions that Allan Shore has made to the people of California have been invaluable, and he has made a lasting impression on those individuals with whom he has been associated, now, therefore, be it RESOLVED BY SENATOR DON PERATA AND ASSEMBLY MEMBER WILMA CHAN, That Allan Shore be commended on his exemplary record of service to the people of the State of California, and extended sincere best wishes for continued success in his future endeavors.

WHEREAS, Allan Shore, a distinguished California resident, has brought credit and distinction

to himself through his active participation in local and state activities, and it is appropriate at

this time to highlight his many accomplishments and to extend to him special honors and the
