With three days of performances, workshops, and exclusive events, the festival is bound to excite. Our great city will be filled with glamour, glitter and artistry, featuring spectacular headliners recognized by the legendary Burlesque Hall of Fame and the greater burlesque community who have cultivated their own international prestige and following.

Over the last few years, Calgary has begun to develop a strong art scene through other festivals such as High Performance Rodeo, Sled Island, Fringe and the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo – with our second year we are proud to add the Calgary International Burlesque Festival to the roster.

For those both new and well-versed in the burlesque art form, Calgary's International Burlesque Festival will present a unique opportunity to see the best and brightest! With an array of local, national and international performers, this festival is one event you do not want to miss out on a chance to be a part of!

Burlesque has a long and rich history in Canada dating all the way back to 1898. The recent revival has flourished in cities across the country, producing some long running burlesque festivals and events. Vancouver recently held their 10th annual Burlesque Festival, while Toronto is in their 8th year and Montreal is about to hold their 7th. Alberta’s burlesque community is entering the spotlight as Edmonton just held their 3rd festival. With the success of last year’s sold out first annual festival Calgary is excited to continue contributing to the global stage showcasing this beautiful art form.

Over the last 10 years the Calgary burlesque scene has grown to be one of the strongest communities in Canada for developing new talent while supporting our well established and diverse performance troupes and soloists across the city. Calgary has hosted a number of world class performers and legends from around the globe and has produced both large and smaller scale shows at packed venues around the city.

The Calgary International Burlesque Festival is a community run not for profit organization. Our Board is made up of some of Calgary’s longest performing burlesque dancers, enthusiasts, and supporters that bring a wealth of knowledge and history to table in an effort to produce the best festival possible.

Burlesque fans come from all walks of life and backgrounds with a demographic from 18-80! As we continue to grow, burlesque in Calgary draws a wider and varied audience. Anyone who attends our shows is guaranteed to discover a whole new world and witness a spectacle like no other.

Our shows incorporate classical, neo, gothic, punk, sideshow, comedy, vaudeville, nerd and popular culture to reach out to a wide variety of audiences and show the different styles of burlesque.

Calgary burlesque performers have graced the stage at the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend in Las Vegas, Lucha VaVoom in Los Angeles, the New York Asian Burlesque Spectacular, the New Orleans & Portland Burlesque Festivals as well as Canadian international burlesque festivals in Vancouver, Edmonton and Toronto. A number of Calgary performers have also been involved in festivals and tours throughout Europe

Calgary runs a number of burlesque schools in the

city and the two most well known are Burlesque Burn

and The Garter Girls School of Burlesque; collectively

they have trained hundreds of students since they were founded in 2010 and 2011

respectively.
