THE PRESIDENT'S CORNER

Many times in the past, I have invited club members to at

tend monthly Board Meetings. This is an invitation which is sel

dom accepted. In order to expedite business affairs in the club,

a Board of Trustees is a necessity. This does not mean that the

Board conducts itself in secret. This is your club and these are

your affairs. Frequently the matters under discussion are highly

pertinent to your personal interests in the club and it would be

to your benefit to attend .

Once each year, we hold an Annual Business Meeting so that

the membership can have a voice in club affairs. Any major

changes in rules or By Laws, Charter Amendments and club

policies are discussed in depth at this time . Most important of

all, we elect a slate of officers and trustees. This is your chance

to determine in whose hands the club will be during the ensuing

year. A slate of officers is prepared by a nominating committee

elected by the Board of Trustees, but nominations can also be

made from the floor. The only restriction being elegibility under

the charter and the permission of the person nominated.

Attendance at this meeting is highly important if you have

any interest at all in club matters. Membership in any organiza

tion bears some responsibility. Trustees and officers who turn a

deaf ear to complaints can hardly be blamed when they emanate

from people who cannot spare one evening out of the entire

year to participate in club business. Our Annual Business Meet

ing will be held at 8:00 p.m. on March 29 and your presence is

welcome.

Don't forget Treasure Night, February 22. This is a fun night

when you can dispose of your no longer used equipment and ac

quire something in its place. Come prepared to buy and sell.

Minimum bids may be stipulated by you in order that you will

receive a fair return.

Our Annual Dinner will be held at the Howard Johnson Motel

at E. 55th and the Shoreway on May 18. Let's make this the

biggest one ever . Bring your spouse or companion and spend a

most enjoyable evening with us. Annual Awards will be pre

sented and new officers installed. Tickets will be available soon,

so get yours from your favorite Trustee or Officer.

BOARD MEETING NOTES

Highlights from the minutes of the Board of Trustees meeting

of C.P.S. held on January 8,1974.

Gretchen Scholz inquired of the Board whether it would be

possible to have our Banquet on a Saturday night instead of on

Wednesday. All Board members felt this might be a better night

to draw more members. Gretchen is to see if a Saturday night in

May was available at the Red Coach Grill.

Gretchen Scholz also asked the Board whether, if in view of

the energy crisis, she should send a deposit check to Oak Open·

ings for reservation of the Lodge on May 3, 4, and 5, 1974. The

Board advised her to go ahead and if necessary to cancel it later.

Jim Gianelos announced that the print show would be hung

at the Central National Bank as soon as permanent supports

were set up at the bank.

A Nominating Committee was appointed by the President.

Members are Steve Campanella, Frank Vano, Jim Gianelos.
