The symbol is a pyramid that has Black business on one side, Black organizations on the other side, and the Black community as the base. This symbol simply means that if the Black community increases its support to Black businesses, Black businesses can be influenced by the Black community to finance Black-controlled organizations whose goals will be to address and seek to eliminate the social ills facing our community.

There is no reason for us not to be able to eliminate hunger and homelessness in our community if all it takes is money. There is no reason that we cannot develop recreational outlets and meaningful educational opportunities for our youth, if all it takes is money. There is no reason that should stop us from bringing our elders back into the community to provide us with the knowledge and wisdom of their years ... if all it takes is money.

We have plenty of money in our community. White people know we have money. Arab people know we have money. Asian (Japanese, Chinese, Korean, etc.) people know we have money. And you know the dope man knows we have money. It is time we begin to spend our money wisely.

America has told us that we need to pull ourselves up by our bootstraps and irs time to do just that. Nobody has time to feel sorry for us anymore; and we no longer have time to feel sorry for ourselves.

It ,is very important that we, as Black people, make a concerted effort to spend at least 10% of the money that we receive from our paychecks, public aid checks, general assistance checks, SSI checks, Social Security checks with Black-owned businesses. We should also supPort Black salespeople working for companies not Black-owned when we buy from those companies.

It is equally important that we, as Black people, begin to go into all kinds of little businesses even if we're only selling one item. By doing this we can build our economy by keeping dollars in our community.

It is time for Black elders, Black adults, Black teenagers and Black.children to make a conscious effort to support each other in business so that we can bring about a new day in our community.
