Grand Rapids Publishing Company, Caffeinated PressGRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- Caffeinated Press is an independent publisher that serves authors and readers of the West Michigan area.

Caffeinated Press Publishes Its Second Volume of Brewed Awakenings Anthology

Caffeinated Press sponsors an annual house anthology titled “Brewed Awakenings,” with a new volume released every autumn. The first volume of the Brewed Awakenings Anthology includes eight authors from West Michigan who share their unique take on the question of what happens when “all goes dark”. The anthology is a series of short stories all revolved around one principle theme. After the success of the first volume release in March of 2015, the company agreed that Brewed Awakenings would become a feature publication and moved forward to release its second volume during November of 2015.

Caffeinated Press Works towards Improving the Skillset of Authors

On December 20th, Caffeinated Press will be hosting its “Perfecting Your Manuscript” seminar. It will take place at Caffeinated Press’s main office, 3167 Kalamazoo Ave SE #104, Grand Rapids, MI 49508, from 9:00 a.m. to noon. The seminar will explore effective self-edit techniques and identify the best kinds of editors or “beta readers” focused on plot holes, problems with continuity, and characterization or believability. In fiction and non-fiction works, the “beta reader” might also assist the author with fact-checking. The seminar aims to improve the manuscript of authors before submission. It also educates authors on the “dos-and-dont’s” of formatting manuscripts for publication. The cost of this seminar is forty dollars.

Caffeinated Press Works With Authors to Make Their Projects Come To Life

Caffeinated Press has just published a book of poetry titled A Crowd of Sorrows, by local poet Lisa Gundry. The company also recently published a speculative fiction novel titled A Broken Race by Jean Davis, and a young adult novel titled The One Friend Philosophy of Life by A.J. Powell. Along with these publications, the company has released issue two of its literary journal, The 3288 Review. Caffeinated Press has also recently nominated six of its contributors and authors for the 2016 Pushcart Prize. Though the company may be small internally, it is making big efforts towards bettering West Michigan’s community of authors and readers.
