The Aigantighe Art Museum (Gaelic for at home and pronounced egg and tie) in Timaru is renowned internationally for its collection and innovative exhibition and education programmes. Fairlie Heritage Museum and CafThe Fairlie Heritage Museum is located in the township of Fairlie, on Mount Cook Road. Look for the windmill and large brick building with a great coffee sign outside. Museum entry is via the Whisk & Page Cafe, Mon-Fri & via a coin operated turnstile during the weekend.
The museum consists of several large buildings containing various displays of life and work in a rural community through farming implements, vehicles and household objects. Included is a large collection of vintage tractors and vehicles.
Mabel Binney Colonial Cottage is furnished with memorabilia from the Victorian era.
The Whisk & Page Cafe, situated on site offers homemade morning & afternoon teas accompanied by LAffare coffee, a selection of teas and cold drinks.
