    MEMORANDUM FOR ALL CADETS

    FROM: C/CC

    SUBJECT: Cadet Retention Policy

    1. The following procedures will be followed by all cadet staff members that hold a supervisory role. This is toinclude executive and command staff in addition to line staff.

    2. New cadet retention is vital to the continued success of the Cadet Program to ensure the steady flow of cadets

from followership to leadership. It is important that these cadets not only stay active in the program, but progressthrough it to become capable leaders and train the next generation of cadets.

    3. If cadets regularly join the squadron, then leave shortly after, it will not only create a leadership vacuum in the

future, but will cause an inaccurate reflection of the units size on record.

    4. In order to achieve maximum cadet retention, the cadet staff will be responsible for both tracking their cadets and

following up on cadets who become inactive. A cadet will be considered inactive after three consecutive absencesfrom regular Thursday meetings.

    5. DEP Staff will be responsible for obtaining the information in the DEP section of the New Cadet Tracking Form

(see Attachment 1). By the third week of DEP the cadet should be sized for a uniform, the membership application

should be completed and should receive a BDU uniform. The BDU uniform needs to include the boots, pants, blouse

and squadron baseball hat in order to transfer to BTC. Exceptions will be at the discretion of the BTC Commander.

    6. BTC Staff will be responsible for the BTC side of the New Cadet Tracking Form. All items must be markedpassed if the cadet is to graduate BTC. The form is to be updated at the end of each meeting. Before the cadets

Curry Achievement PRB, the form must be in the cadets file, completed, in order for the cadet to pass the PRB. No

exceptions are to be made without the consent of the Cadet Commander.

    7. Flight staff will be responsible for keeping an up to date tracking form (see Attachment 2) for each new BTC

graduate in the flight. These forms will set objectives and goals for the cadet to achieve while being readily

available to the new cadet to track ones own progress. New Airmen will also be assigned a cadet mentor who

can help guide them through the process of being a member of B-CC. This position can be fulfilled by an element

leader or any responsible cadet above the grade of C/A1C, to the discretion of the Flight Commander.

    8. Flight staff will follow up on inactive cadets by calling to ask them why they stopped attending and if there isanything we can do to make them come back. These phone calls are the responsibility of the flight commander and

it is encouraged that they be the ones who make the calls.
