Term 4 Week 9 13 th December 2018 Caddies Creek Public School Dear Parents, What a fabulous evening last night’s Year Six Farewell was! The kids, most importantly, had a great time, and there were so many parents there and a great number of them hit the dance floor, which was wonderful to see! More staff than I have ever seen at a farewell attended, which is testament to the high opinion they have of Year Six. Thanks to Miss Nicholls and the Year Six teachers for all their hard work in making it such a memorable night. Speaking of farewells, it makes me both sad and happy to let you know a couple of our teachers will be leaving us in 2019. Miss Nasso has picked up a permanent classroom teacher job at William Dean Public School, and likewise Mrs Glanville at Glenhaven Public School. While we are so happy for both of them we will be sad to see such great teachers and wonderful people leave Caddies Creek! Student reports will be distributed next Tuesday. As I have said before, with my own children’s reports my eyes fall initially on the indicators of effort, rather than performance. If I know they are trying hard in all they do, then I am satisfied. As a general rule, we allow Years 3-6 students (and Yr 2 students at the discretion of their teacher) a quick look at their reports before being sealed in the envelopes. Firstly, it is interesting to see the reactions of students to their own effort and performance, and secondly in years gone by we have seen a swathe of discarded envelopes after school from students who were too “overly curious” about what was inside. So while it is addressed to the parents, we do allow many a quick peek. My sincere thanks to Mrs Sarkozi for the coordination of these reports. And of course she would say it’s a team effort but she is very much the captain of this particular team activity. Getting over a thousand reports out is no mean feat as you can imagine and she has done a brilliant job. And so we come to the final Chronicle of the year. And what a year it has been! So many memories, so little time! Included at the end of this Chronicle is a draft Term One calendar for 2019 (very draft!) as a rough guide to the beginning of next year. A reminder that students 1-6 return Wednesday, 30 th January. I would like to thank the community for their constant support, all the wonderful staff members for their positivity and flexibility, and mostly the amazing, the incredible, the phenomenal Caddies Creek kids for making 2018 a fabulous year! If you have any time off, I wish you a restful break. Have a Merry Christmas and a fantastic 2019. Caddies Creek Public School Chronicle

Dear Parents,

What a fabulous evening last night’s Year Six Farewell was! The kids, most importantly,

had a great time, and there were so many parents there – and a great number of them hit

the dance floor, which was wonderful to see! More staff than I have ever seen at a farewell

attended, which is testament to the high opinion they have of Year Six. Thanks to Miss

Nicholls and the Year Six teachers for all their hard work in making it such a memorable

night.

Speaking of farewells, it makes me both sad and happy to let you know a couple of our

teachers will be leaving us in 2019. Miss Nasso has picked up a permanent classroom

teacher job at William Dean Public School, and likewise Mrs Glanville at Glenhaven

Public School. While we are so happy for both of them we will be sad to see such great

teachers and wonderful people leave Caddies Creek!

Student reports will be distributed next Tuesday. As I have said before, with my own

children’s reports my eyes fall initially on the indicators of effort, rather than

performance. If I know they are trying hard in all they do, then I am satisfied. As a general

rule, we allow Years 3-6 students (and Yr 2 students at the discretion of their teacher) a

quick look at their reports before being sealed in the envelopes. Firstly, it is interesting

to see the reactions of students to their own effort and performance, and secondly in years

gone by we have seen a swathe of discarded envelopes after school from students who

were too “overly curious” about what was inside. So while it is addressed to the parents,

we do allow many a quick peek. My sincere thanks to Mrs Sarkozi for the coordination

of these reports. And of course she would say it’s a team effort but she is very much the

captain of this particular team activity. Getting over a thousand reports out is no mean

feat as you can imagine and she has done a brilliant job.

And so we come to the final Chronicle of the year. And what a year it has been! So many

memories, so little time! Included at the end of this Chronicle is a draft Term One

calendar for 2019 (very draft!) as a rough guide to the beginning of next year. A reminder

that students 1-6 return Wednesday, 30th January.

I would like to thank the community for their constant support, all the wonderful staff

members for their positivity and flexibility, and mostly the amazing, the incredible, the

phenomenal Caddies Creek kids for making 2018 a fabulous year! If you have any time

off, I wish you a restful break. Have a Merry Christmas and a fantastic 2019.

P&C News

School Banking – Don’t forget we are still banking on the last day of term – next Wednesday 19th December! Thanks to

everyone who has been involved with our banking program again this year! It has been great to see so many Caddies children

depositing their money each week. The program wouldn’t be possible without our wonderful team of banking volunteers

who do a fantastic job as tellers each Wednesday morning so a huge thank you to all of them. A reminder that School

Banking will commence the first week back in Term 1, from 8.30 – 9.00am on Wednesday 30th January 2019, outside the

library.

Volunteers for 2019 - As the school year is coming to a close, we will be very sad to say goodbye to some of our wonderful

volunteers as their kids venture off to start the next chapter in high school. If you have thought about wanting to get involved,

then we would love to hear from you. All you need to do is email us at [email protected] and we will put

you on our mailing list and when we require volunteers, we will email everyone on our list and call for volunteers. You

aren’t committed to anything, you can reply to volunteer if and when it works for you. The types of events we have run in

the past where we require volunteers are: school discos (once or twice a year), selling mother’s and father’s day tickets,

second hand uniform pools, trivia night, twilight market etc however next year’s fundraising activities have not been set yet

but we will advise in the new school year. So please consider joining our wonderfully supportive volunteering community,

we’d love to hear from you!

Reading Cinemas Movie Vouchers – Don’t forget to keep all of your movie stubs from Reading Cinemas at Rouse Hill

Town Centre over the holidays and bring them in next year to put in the popcorn box in the office. These can be converted

by the P&C to free movie tickets that we will use as prizes in fundraising events next year.

Thank you – The P&C would like to thank everyone in the school community for their ongoing support with the many

fundraising activities we have held this year.

We would like to thank Mr Beggs, Mrs Sarkozi, Mr Ison, Mrs Kelly and all of the teaching and office staff for their help

and support throughout the year. To our wonderful volunteers, thank you for always offering to help out with all events that

have been planned, without your help we would not be able to raise money for the school. Your continued support enables

us to help the school in purchasing items and sponsoring programs that will benefit the students and the school as a whole.

We wish you and your family a very safe and happy holiday and look forward to an exciting 2019!

Merry Christmas!
