Nvidia Graphics & NX !

•   In this article, we’ll help you ascertain your current Nvidia Graphics driver version and compare it to the certified list from Siemens GTAC.

•   You may have received an error, read a post on the Siemens PLM Community site, or GTAC has informed you to update or roll-back your graphics driver… now what?

•   Searching Nvidia for the latest graphics driver may not be the best answer here.

•   When you look at your current driver version, what does that mean? Is there a decoder ring?

Hardware (Graphics Card) Certification!

•   Navigate to Siemens GTAC and find the Hardware and Software Certifications link.

•   Under Additional Resources, near the bottom, you’ll find Hardware (Graphics Card) Certifications.

•   Click the link and you’ll be prompted to download a MS Excel file.

•   Within this file, you’ll find tabs with useful information such as notes, a revision history of this matrix, as well as other information organized on these tabs.

•   You’ll see other tabs for 3D mouse, Virtual Display Infrastructure (VDI), Remote Display, Active Workspace and, of course, Caveats.

Certification Matrix!•   On the Certification Matrix tab, look for your machine Vendor, System and Graphics card.

•   I’ll use my laptop as an example here. I run a Lenovo P51 with a Nvidia Quadro M2200 graphics card on Windows 10.

•   I can see on the matrix that my 64 bit Driver is 431.02.

•   You can download the certified driver directly from the link provided.

Your Current Driver Version – Windows!

•   In Windows, search for Device Manager.

•   Find Display adapters and expand to show your current adapter list. You will likely have more adapters than what I show here.

•   Right click your adapter and select Properties.

•   Select the Driver tab.

•   The driver version is shown as 24.21.13.9827. •   The spreadsheet shows that I need 431.02 but

my Driver version is 24.21.13.9827. What’s the deal? We must manually translate and align the numbering schemes.

Take the last five digits and shift the decimal like so:

224.21.13.9827 ! 3.9827 ! 398.27

Your Current Driver Version – NX !

•   Open your current version of NX (I’ve tried this in NX11, NX12 and the current versions of NX Continuous Release NX 1847 & NX1872).

•   Open a part file then Help > Logfile.

•   Search for NVIDIA and hit Find Next until you find the JT Render Configuration section of the logfile.

•   If you do it this way, you do not have to translate the numbering as shown above.
