Planning the Event

•Location - Central or convenient and easy for vehicles to maneuver through

•Contractor - Due to shipping costs, find a contractor close to your area

•Trucking company - The more flexible the better

•Volunteers/ Government employees - Make it a community effort by bringing in volunteer groups and employees from area governments. Community service workers.

•Pallets - Talk to local businesses about getting their excess

•Gaylord boxes - For the smaller items and keyboards

Planning the Event

•Fork Truck - Or other pallet lifter

•Shrink Wrap - May find an area business willing to donate

•Work Gloves - Some items may be broken

•Trash/ Storage Container - Handy for overnight storage

•Advertising/ Signage - In advance as well as banners that day, check with town planning for placement

•Contact local police - they can patrol the area overnight and ensure to stay legal

Pallet and Wrap Materials

Sort material by type - Monitors, CPUs, printers/ fax machines/ copiers, audio/ visual

Stack to a safe height

Wrap well, tight, and sufficiently

Use pallets as much as possible

Use Gaylord boxes for small or difficult to pallet items - hard drives, keyboards, loose cables

Handle Hard drives carefully to avoid breakage
