Paddington Cab Share by bzh

Getting TO/AROUND: When you arrive in London via Paddington station, during the morning rush hour on a week day, if yourdestination is somewhere in the town centre and you arenot rushed by time, don't hesitate to sample the cab sharescheme. The principle is that, rather than paying the fullfare for the taxi, you can share with 3 or 4 other peopleand pay a fixed price, which is a fraction of the priceyou'd pay if you were on your own, such as 5 poundsinstead of 20. To do this, find the attendant whodistributes colour coded vouchers before you get to thetaxi line, tell her where you're going, take the voucher andjoin the cab share queue. Once you get to the front of thequeue, you will be grouped with other people who go inthe same direction than you and you will share a cab. Thedriver will then stop at the requested stop for each personand you will each pay a fixed price. It comes out muchcheaper than the normal full price but it takes slightlymore time because the taxi has to drop everybody. Onesmall glitch is that, in theory, the driver should take 4 or 5people in the cab. In practice, they always wait for 5 tomaximise the price they get and, even though a black cabis spacious, it usually ends up being very cosy in the cab,at least for the first two stops.
