WHEREAS the official celebration ofBlack History Month at the SFUO isessential to the cultural richness of its

student population and to our Canadianheritage; and,

WHEREAS the celebrations shallinclude an accurate representation of thisone specific group of peoplewho have contributed to Canadascultural mosaic; therefore,

permanent;WHEREAS the lack of a permanentdesignated prayer area in a centrallocation of the university campusforces Muslim students to pray inundesignated areas, such asstairwells and corridors;

BE IT RESOLVED that the SFUOput forward a motion to the

University Centre ManagementBoard that UCU room 125 beallocated as a permanent area forprayer, solely for the purpose ofprayer, and to no longer be utilizedas a classroom.

12.5 Funding

12.5.1

Each of the Student Life Servicesand the Student Life ServicesGeneral Fund are funded throughduly run referendums, as per article4.17, and the amounts are adjustedannually at the rate of inflation.These amounts are protected byreferendum results and can be foundin the Student Life Services Manual.

12.5.2

As per article 4.17, the Student LifeServices General Fund can only bemodifiedthrough referendum.

12.5.3 Student Life ServicesGeneral Fund

12.5.3.1The Student Life Services GeneralFund is established to increase andto improve the visibility of theStudent Life Services and improveoverall student life at the Universityof Ottawa. The Student LifeServices General Fund shall be usedupon the agreement of the StudentLife Services Committee.

12.5.3.2Requesting Funds

12.5.3.2.1The members of the Student LifeServices Committee may requestfunds from the Student Life ServicesGeneral Fund for any of thefollowing reasons:

12.5.6The General Fund budget shall

account for initiatives that benefitone or more Student Life Services,Roger Guindon, Student LifeServices volunteer appreciation,individual and/or collective StudentLife Services promotional material.

12.5.7At least one joint Student LifeServices volunteer appreciationevent must be held each semester.

12.5.8The Student Life ServicesCommittee must approve theStudent Life Services General Fundbudget before requisitions of fundscan be made.

12.5.9Remaining funds at the end of eachfiscal year left in the Student LifeServices General Fund will becarried over to the following yearsStudent Life Services General Fundbudget, up to and including$75,000.00. Funds exceeding$75,000.00 will be absorbed by theSFUO operating budget. TheStudent Life Services General Fundcannot project or realise a deficit.

12.6 Administrative functions

12.6.1The Vice President, Student Affairswill chair a monthly Student LifeServices Round Table, separate fromthe Student Life ServicesCommittee. She shall invite themembers of the executive, the Roger

12.7 Campaigns

12.7.1The Federation recognizes that theStudent Life Services must provide awelcoming, non-judgmental andbias-free atmosphere for all students,regardless of political belief.

12.7.2The Student Life Services shall notbe required to participate in SFUOcampaigns.
