Abstract A solar cooker is a device that uses energy from the sunlight to cook or sterilize food and drink.

Solar cooker uses no fuels, it means the user does not need to fetch or pay for the gas, firewood, electricity and other fuels.Efficient way to save energy Does not pollute the environment

To reduce the impact and dependence of fossil fuels

To cut down utility cost and save mother natureObjectives The Earths natural resources is now decreasing rapidly. Scientists had discovered that all the non-renewable sources will be depleted in 2035.

Problem:

How to save energy? How to help people to cook food and water? How to reduce the impact and dependence of fossil fuels? How to cut down utility cost and save mother nature?

Problem Statement

Procedure

Reflection of light

Refraction of light

Greenhouse EffectBasic Principles Occurs when light rays on an opaque object bounces on it.Aluminum foil is the best reflector and we had choose it for our solar cooker. In our solar cooker, we added 8 surfaces of aluminium foils in the inner surface of our solar cooker to have a better reflection.Reflection of lightOccurs when light rays enters 2 mediums where its density is different, causes it to bends. The wrapping paper in our solar cooker helps to refract the light rays onto the container. The convex lens also focuses the light rays onto the containers.b) Refraction of lightGreenhouse effect if a phenomena that our Earth is facing, heat cannot be released out because heat is trapped by a layer of carbon dioxide. In our solar cooker, we added a layer of wrapping paper to act as the layer of carbon dioxide. In our solar cooker, we added 4 pieces of poly foam as a heat insulator to prevent the loses of heat and maintain the temperature of water.c) Greenhouse EffectThe Colour Chosen Black and dull ( to absorb heat ) Black Mounting Board Black Pebbles

Silver ( to reflect light) Aluminum Foil 1. Black and Dull Black is more suitable to absorb heat if compare to other colours. Therefore, we choose black mounting board as the outer surface of our solar cooker. We also placed some black pebbles in the container to gain more heat. 2. Silver and shiny

We built the inner surface of our solar cooker with the aluminium foil because silver and shiny surface can reflect more light. It also helps to focus the light onto the container.Specialities of our Solar CookerEasy to measure the temperatureEasy to fill in and take out the waterWater resistantPortable
