    1.4 DESIGN 1.4 THIT K

    General Suitably rated transformers shall be installed to cater for all LV power requirements. Transformers shall be installed indoors in a non-hazardous area. Transformers shall be capable of continuous duty at any voltage/frequency within the tolerances stated in this Specification. Transformers shall also have cyclic duty capacity in accordance with IEC 60354. Transformers shall supply mechanical, general power and lighting loads and shall be designed for unbalanced loading conditions. Transformers shall be capable of supplying short term transients to meet motor starting inrush currents. The Transformers shall be provided with off-load manual tap changers, having a tapping range of +/5% in steps of 2.5%. The Transformers shall be capable of operating at their rated power output at any specific tapping. The Transformers shall be designed to withstand without damage the thermal and dynamic effects of external short circuits.

    System Voltage/ Frequency and Tolerances Transformers shall function correctly between the system steady state voltage and frequency tolerances detailed below: Voltage 22kV/400V nom.+ 6% -10% Frequency 50 Hz nominal +/5% Further, the Transformers and associated equipment shall be able to function through the following short-term transient variation: Voltage: Nominal +15%, -20% Frequency: Nominal 10% The Total Harmonic Distortion will be 5%. The Transformers shall be designed with particular attention to the suppression of harmonic currents, particularly the 3rd and 5th.

    Service conditions The Transformers shall be suitable for installation and operation in Vietnam and the environmental conditions described in the data sheets and project specifications. The Supplier shall be responsible for ensuring that all equipment and components supplied are suitable for the operating and conditions stated. Where the Supplier standard or preferred design option does not meet the operating or environmental conditions, the Supplier shall give details of the technical changes and commercial impact of complying with the stated conditions. The Transformers will be installed indoors and the design ambient temperature shall be 40 deg C.

    3 CONSTRUCTION 3 THI CNG

    General Transformers shall be oil filled and hermetically sealed type. All materials used shall be corrosion resistant and non-hygroscopic. The tanks shall be constructed of steel. The tank cover shall be welded to the tank with a continuous weld and the expansion space sealed with dry air or inert gas. Filling and drain orifices shall also be sealed and rendered tamper-proof and shall be pad-lockable type. The tank cover and cooling system assembly shall have the mechanical strength to withstand without permanent distortion, the internal pressure caused by the contraction or expansion of the liquid and gas/air volumes under the specified service conditions. Certified lifting lugs and jacking points shall be provided for the complete Transformer and for the core & coils. The Transformer core shall be constructed from high quality grain oriented silicon steel and designed to ensure that leakage flux does not cause over-heating in any part of the Transformer. The Transformer base shall be sufficiently rigid to permit skidding in any direction and shall be suitable for fixing down by either bolting or continuous welding. The Transformer shall be fitted with pressure relief devices, pressure & temperature gauges and liquid level sight glasses with maximum/minimum indication. Pressure relief devices shall be fitted with a set of changeover contacts. All gasketed joints shall be below cold liquid level and gasket materials shall be suitable for use with the specified oil.

    Cooling The transformers shall be naturally air-cooled ONAN (Oil Natural Air Natural) type. The manufacturer shall provide calculations to substantiate temperature rises for natural cooling ratings.

    Transformer Windings The windings of the Transformers shall be insulated in a uniform manner and designed to withstand the power frequency and impulse test voltage for the respective insulation level. The winding materials shall be copper. Transformer laminations shall be securely restrained to ensure that vibration is kept to a minimum. The core clamps shall be designed to ensure that they shall not be required to absorb dynamic short circuit forces. The winding insulation level shall comply with the requirements in IEC-60076-3. The Supplier shall provide calculations / analysis confirming the maximum fault levels and duration applicable to the Transformers. The winding arrangement shall be vector group Dyn11.

    Temperature Measurement Liquid and winding temperature indicating devices shall be provided. Indicators shall be provided with a maximum temperature pointer. Adjustable sets of electrically independent changeover contacts shall be provided for alarm and trip purposes for each device. Winding temperature indicators shall be preferably of the thermal image type.

    Off-Circuit Tap Changer A manually externally operated off-circuit tap changer shall be provided and it shall meet the following minimum requirements: The tapping range shall be +/-5% in 2% steps The tapping switch shall be positively located in each tap position and shall be lockable in those positions. The operating handle shall be provided with padlock facilities to lock the tap changer in each position. Mechanical end stops shall be provided The operating handle shall be metal and sized to allow operation without the need for tools. It shall be located directly accessible position (i.e. not requiring removal of any covers) Tap positions shall be clearly marked in line with the data given on the rating plate. One handle shall operate all phases simultaneously. All components shall be adequately supported and braced to withstand the short circuit current for which the

    Transformer is designed. Voltage control tappings shall be provided on the HV windings of the transformers. The tappings shall be arranged on the HV windings to preserve the electromagnetic balance and phase displacement of the transformer at all voltage ratios.     Cable Terminations Cable termination boxes shall be made of steel having enclosure protection minimum IP54 inside and IP56 outside. Separate cable termination boxes shall be provided for the following: HV side of the Transformer LV side of the Transformer Auxiliary circuits (for temperature and pressure) The HV termination box shall be designed for multicore cable connection and the LV termination box shall be suitable for multicore cable connection. HV and LV termination boxes shall be on opposite sides of the Transformer and shall be air & phase insulated type and mounted in an accessible position. They shall be designed to prevent deterioration or failure due to the accumulation of condensation and fitted with pressure relief devices. It shall be possible to terminate cables and busducts without the need for additional insulation. Termination boxes shall be dimensioned and sized to ensure that all cables and busducts can be installed and connected easily.

    Auxiliary Terminations The cable for the connection of auxiliary trip/ alarm circuits shall be of 0.6/1 kV, minimum cross-sectional area of 2.5 mm2 with stranded high conductivity copper conductors.
