SUMMARY

I am a fellowship trained knee and a sport medicine surgeon with extensive experiencein knee ligament reconstruction, primary/revision knee arthroplasty, patellofemoral jointinstability and multiligament reconstruction. I am a visiting professor in the Faculty ofHealth and Life Sciences in Northumbria University and a director of OASIR Researchgroup (www.oasir.co.uk). The research work at Northumbria University havesuccessfully lead to accomplishing many trials and research projects. In the past 10years I have also developed an extensive research interest in patellar instability andtendinopathy. Through my affliation to Northumbria and the support of the academicstaff I have published more than 88 scientific papers, book chapters and articles. I amalso the co-author of two of the best selling Postgraduate Orthopaedic books in the UK.

After finishing type one specialist registrar training in Scotland and knee fellowship inSydney and Newcastle in 2005, I was invited to become a consultant trauma andorthopaedic surgeon at the QEH NHS trust in Gateshead. The orthopaedic departmentin Gateshead NHS trust was severely underdeveloped and had serious issues withattracting high quality consultants and trainees. In my role as the head of department Isucceeded in raising the standard of the department and make it one of the majorsuccess stories in the northeast.

Since 2010 I have been dedicating a significant amount of my time to humanitarian workwith NGMV medical charity (www.ngmvcharity.co.uk) and more recently with theInternational Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) (www.icrc.org/en/where-we-work/middle-east/lebanon) at their war wounded trauma reconstruction centre inTripoli/Lebanon.

In August 2015 he was appointed as a knee surgeon at the Academic Surgical Firm,South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC).
