Carbeen, Corymbia tessallaris, is a fast growing evergreen tree, which is found extensively throughout the Queensland coast, Northern Territory and Western Australia. The lower trunk of the tree is dark greyish with rough, cracked bark, whereas the top of the tree is smooth and grey or white in colour.

Carbine Close Smithfield Named after a mountain theme, Mount Carbine is a mountain and a

town on the Atherton Tablelands.

Card Avenue Manunda Named after G. M. Card, a civil engineer who was Manager of the

Carmen Street Earlville This street was named after a well known Butchering Company in

Cairns, although the name is misspelt and should be Carman. The firm began in January 1919 when brothers Frank, Bede, Bert and Mark P Carman bought into the butchering firm of the Atherton Brothers which was owned by their brother-in-law, Jack Atherton. The Shop was situated in Spence Street. In the early 1920s, Jack Atherton was bought out, and the shop name was altered to Carman Bros with Frank Carman as the older brother assuming the role of Manager (Jeremy Hodes, FNQ Places and Street Names, Aug1998).
