hold, it doesn’t let go.” The Wall Street Journal

The singing is easy to reach by car:From I-94: Take I-94 to the Garfield Avenue exit. Turn east. If you are com-

ing from the south, this will be a right turn; from the north, this will be a

left turn. (Do not be confused by the “no left turn” sign that refers to traf-

fic on the westbound side of the boulevard.) When you pass King Drive

(about .7 mi) you will see signs for the University of Chicago. Stay in the

right lane. Follow the right lane as it curves to the right into Morgan/

Payne Avenues. When you get to the bottom of the T (.3 miles) at

Midway Plaisance, turn left. Continue .8 miles to Woodlawn Avenue.

Turn left at the Woodlawn light. Ida Noyes Hall is one block straight

ahead, at the corner of 59th and Woodlawn.

OPTION ONLY FOR SATURDAY*: Take Lake Shore Drive (Route 41) to

57th Street, the Museum of Science and Industry exit. Continue west,

past the museum, to Stony Island Avenue. (You will not be able to con-

tinue on 57th Street west of Stony Island.) Turn left. Go two blocks to

59th Street. Turn right. Continue .5 miles to Ida Noyes Hall.
