Creative Guitar LessonsMy structure is a little bit different than most. I focus on coaching my students how to become intelligent and tactful songwriters/musicians. I do this by training them how to use their instrument as an expression of who they are…

In my lessons we will cover everything from music theory and chord structure, to the study of previous hit songs, creative writing techniques, songwriting ideas and concepts, guitar picking and strumming, rhythm and timing, song arrangements, poetry and lyrical wit, even 'what makes a strong melody.' I strive to facilitate a hands on creative process where each lesson is tailored to the individual need of each student.

Thank you so much for considering me with the delicate task of teaching you or your child my unique style of ‘guitar lessons... with a songwriting edge.”

Please don’t hesitate to contact me with questions, concerns, comments, or anything else that’s on your mind. That’s what I’m here for.

Sincerely,

Kevin Michael [email protected] Instructor

Have you ever taken guitar lessons before and felt discouraged?

Many people take guitar lessons so they can eventually write songs. Because most teachers approach the instrument from a technical standpoint, often the creative aspect of developing the student as an artist and songwriter is overlooked.

NORMAL SCENARIOS:1. A Student is left with a dictionary of guitar chords but does not understand how to develop their creativity.

2. The student gets bored learning the ‘basics’ and ends up quitting the guitar before they learn how to express themselves through music.

Parent Testimony“We love Creative Guitar Lessons. Our kids really enjoy their time learning and look forward to their lessons. They are even writing their own songs. Kevin is an excellent teacher. We would highly recommend him and Creative Guitar Lessons to any parent who is looking for a wholesome, trustworthy, kind, talented and relevant teacher for their children. He has become like family to us.”

CREATIVEGUITARImagine taking golf lessons, learning a perfect swing yet never going to the course with the instructor to play a round or two.

At Creative Guitar Lessons I take the time to instill the tools a real songwriter would need such as:

-music history-chord patterns and progressions-basic music theory-song arrangement -production and instrumentation-basic demoing and melodies.

I strive at tailoring each session to the students needs and skill level.

1. How are your lessons different from normal guitar lessons?

Creative Guitar Lessons curriculum focuses not only on music theory and chord progressions but also on music production, songwriting, creative mind mapping/creative writing, song arrangement, basic song ideas, demoing and recording, melodies, and lyrical wit.

2. What is your payment policy and what methods of payment do you accept?

Payment for each month should be made the last week of the prior month i.e. payment for the month of March, will be due on the last lesson in February. I accept all major credit cards (through paypal), personal checks, and cash. Make checks payable to KMG World Music/Kevin Michael Gray.

*If you purchase 1 month of hour lessons in advance you are eligible to receive one free hour lesson.

3. Do you come to us or do I come to you?

I understand your busy schedule and have created value by bringing the music world directly to your door. I can do the driving so you don't have to. If you would like for me to come to you and you do not live in the current Creative Guitar Lessons teaching zone (Calabasas, Agoura Hills, Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks) I can still come to you for an additional $20.00 a lesson.

4. How do I schedule a lesson?

Give me a call and I'll be happy to schedule your first lesson! 310-402-2401 or fill out an inquiry form on the 'contact' page.

5. What is your cancelation policy?

You can cancel a lesson by phone or email with at least a 48-hour notice. All lessons cancelled without a 48-hour notice will be billed to your account.

6. Do you rent or sell instruments?

I do not rent instruments; however, I do sell selective merchandise on my website.I will be glad to refer you to some great music stores.

7. Do you record guitar lessons?

Lessons can be recorded for an additional $5.00. The student will receive the CD at the end of each lesson.

8. What can I do as a parent to help prepare for the lesson?

An important aspect of musical development is practicing consistently. It is also very helpful to have a designated area for lessons and individual practice.

9. How often will I need to practice?

Practicing is an essential part to uncovering your full creative potential. I recommend 30 minutes to an hour four to five times a week. Remember those who practice and sharpen their skills 'get the gig.'
