I am particularly grateful for the trouble taken to safeguard my security and that of other mrmbers of my party. I should be grateful if my thanks could be passed on. to those concerned. I owe you my personal thanks also for your helpful. Chairmanship of the meetings of the Council. I regret that a greater measure of agreement could not be achieved on the question of Britain's budgetary contribution but I hope that it may prove possible to resolve the matter when the Council next meets. Finally, thank you for your two gifts. organisation of the European Council meeting. in Dublin on
