been sent to me by some of my Ocala friends purporting to be from the Owensboro Ky Inquirer and com- mented ¬ upon editorially by both the Banner and Star I take this method of making a public statement concern- Ing the clipping and comments First Without the comment of the Ocala Banner I would not have deemed any statement of any kind necessary after my four years spent In Ocala but lest others show the same prompt- ness ¬ in condemning me unheard and accusing me unjustly of ingratitude double dealing etc I hereby publicly say I am unaware of the source of In- formation ¬ which led the Inquirer to publish its statement and am In- nocent ¬ of ever intentionally saying one word to the detriment of either Ocala or Florida but on the contrary have constantly made both a theme of praise and a subject of the kindest words Indeed what I have ever had to say about the things in Ocala needing re- proof ¬ from the teachings of Gods word I have said in Ocala and always stood foursquare upon what I said Second Sorrow is the feeling prompting me the most in reference to the unkind editorial comment by Editor Harris for whom I have not only always had bouquets to throw at his feet but would freely deck his brow with laurels As for the Star I have always rejoiced in its light and- s It luster Is enhanced by its kind I statement concerning its faith in me I Third Without MARCUS WILL DUPLICATEBIG CITY PRICES

Marcus Frank wants It distinctlyunderstood that he will duplicate InOcala the prices on any merchandisethat can be bought in Tampa or Jack-sonville

¬

except on such articles asstoves etc on which freight must beadded Mr Frank has studied prices-on merchandise from Miami to Jack-sonville

¬

and deems Ocala the cheap-est

¬

place to buy he knows of If youI doubt the statement he stands ready-to prove It

AN OPEN LETTERFROM REV C CARROLL

Xatchitoches La June 29 190Editor Star A clipping having

been sent to me by some of my Ocalafriends purporting to be from theOwensboro Ky Inquirer and com-mented

¬

upon editorially by both theBanner and Star I take this methodof making a public statement concern-Ing the clipping and comments

First Without the comment of theOcala Banner I would not have deemedany statement of any kind necessaryafter my four years spent In Ocalabut lest others show the same prompt-ness

¬

in condemning me unheard andaccusing me unjustly of ingratitudedouble dealing etc I hereby publiclysay I am unaware of the source of In-

formation¬

which led the Inquirer topublish its statement and am In-

nocent¬

of ever intentionally saying oneword to the detriment of either Ocalaor Florida but on the contrary haveconstantly made both a theme of praiseand a subject of the kindest wordsIndeed what I have ever had to sayabout the things in Ocala needing re-proof

¬

from the teachings of Godsword I have said in Ocala and alwaysstood foursquare upon what I said

Second Sorrow is the feelingprompting me the most in referenceto the unkind editorial comment byEditor Harris for whom I have notonly always had bouquets to throw athis feet but would freely deck hisbrow with laurels As for the Star Ihave always rejoiced in its light and-

sIt luster Is enhanced by its kindI statement concerning its faith in meI

Third Without even knowing theeditor of the Owensboro Inquirer I

I really believe that he surely had noIdea or Intention of putting me In aI false light before the Ocala people orany one else Sincerely yours andwith love to Ocala C C Carroll
