accredited investors have been able to buy shares ofcompanies not listed on the stock exchanges. The new crowdfunding law allows private businesses to raiseequity funding from a wide pool of potential investors, bothaccredited and non-accredited. Small businesses can now sellpieces of their company online through internet crowdfundingsites in return for capital. A maximum investment of $10,000per single investor, or purchaser is allowed in a singlecrowdfunding offering, unless he or she is an accreditedinvestor or a certified investor. Crowdfunding will enablesmall Wisconsin businesses to raise up to $1 million fromstate investors through online portals. The Waunakee Area Chamber of Commercewelcomed Cheri Schweitzer, President and Founder ofCredible Consulting at the October 1st Wake UpWaunakee Series held at the Village Center. Cheri is aformer restaurant manager and public health inspectorturned restaurant consultant. In honor of National FoodSafety month, Cheri discussed the do's and don'ts ofsafe food preparation and storage. She shared
some funny health inspector stories and gave tips on how to know if arestaurant operator has safety as a priority; biggest indicator: dirtybathrooms more often than not mean dirty kitchen. Those that attendedwill never look at a restaurant the same again and may think twiceabout how they handle food in their own homes. With fall's arrival and kids back in school, you may bethinking about serving your community on a more regularbasis. We would like to offer a couple of opportunities toconsider. We are refining our volunteer opportunities and would like tohave a regular/consistent TEAMS working during the clientshopping times. Grab a friend and commit to volunteeringone time per month during these open hours below. 8volunteers is a good number to run each shopping open hourssmoothly. Food Pantry volunteers areneeded Responsibilities would be to pick up food at Kwik Tripin special totes, transport to the WFP, weigh/check-in foodand set it out for the next day's distribution during shoppinghours. Estimated time commitment: 30-45minutes/pick up. As with many things it's more fun to work on a project withfriends, particularly when you are doing something that addsvalue to our community! Grab a friend and volunteertogether for one of our open shopping hours. If you have alimited amount of time and need more flexibility in yourvolunteering, sign-up for one of the Kwik Trip pickups.
