STRATEGIES FOR STAYING SAFE

Protective Factors Behaviors you can practice to stay safe

Smart Precautions Avoid unsafe areas (especially high crime rate

areas) Do not carry your purse/wallet in easy-to-grab

places Walk confidently, ALWAYS look like you know

where you are going Avoid walking alone at night Park your car in well-lit areas Do not hitchhike Let someone know where you are going

BODY LANGUAGE AND SELF-DEFENSE

Body Language Non-verbal communication through gestures, facial
