Centennial Eagles News April 2018 Dear Centennial Families, It is exciting that spring is here and we are now in the month of April. With two great months ahead of us there is still a lot of learning left to do! Thank you for continuing to send your child to school prepared to learn. As we look at this upcoming week, we have our annual Centennial carnival quickly approaching. Thank you to everyone who has sent donations in to school or oered to volunteer your time in helping to make this event a success for our Centennial families. Our PTA is working diligently to prepare for us all to "Fly to the Moon!" The month of April is going to be an exciting one for our Outdoor Classroom. With all of the hard work and labor that have helped to make our outdoor environment student friendly last year, weather permitting, classrooms will be taking advantage of this outdoor learning space. Last week our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders participated in the state CMAS assessment. Each child participated by taking three literacy and three mathematics tests. I am so proud of each and every child for showing incredible perseverance, positive attitudes, and growth mindsets. The week of April 9th our 4th grade students will take the social studies CMAS consisting of three sessions while the the 5th grade students will take the science CMAS, also consisting of three sessions. In the past years, assessment results have often been released in the fall. Coming soon, our Book Fair will be set up in our library from April 24th through April 26th. This one is a Buy One Get One Free Book Fair, so you won't want to miss it! These books can be a great resource for summer reading. As the weather begins to warm up, please remember to always send a jacket for your child to school since Colorado weather can often become unpredictable. I wish you all a wonderful month of April. Here's to a great month of learning! Carmen Polka Principal Centennial Elementary School
