Status of the DHCAL m2 software

Status on november 10th, 10AM
• Setup with :
– 1 IPNL slab (24 hardrcocs), RPC
– 2 LAPP slabs (4 hardrocs), Micromegas
– 3 DIFS connected to the same PC through a USB hub
– 1 DAQ PC (Dell Poweredge 2950) running SL5
– 1 laptop for user interface (OS does not matter)

Status on november 10th, 10AM
• What has been tested and works :
– All tested DIFs fully functionnal
– All Tested slabs fully functionnal with following modifications : • Use of buffers on the SLC clock line is mandatory (max nb of hardrocs
chained without buffer could not exceed 12)• Use of buffers on the Open drains readout lines (transmit_on, dout and
ramfull) should be forseen for next slabs• A more robust Slab-DIF connector
– Both DIF command and register access with XDAQ software
– Slow control (tested in all hardrocs) is stable and reliable

• What has been tested and works (2) :
– Numerical readout has been tested in following modes : • Manual Start Acquisition/Manual Start Readout (Manual Trigger)• Automatic Start Acquisition/ Automatic Start Readout (Internal Trigger)• Automatic Start Acquisition/ Automatic Stop Readout (« Beam test mode »)
• Both DIF firmware and XDAQ software stable and reliable (as far as we tested, ie a few continuous hours)
• Both DIF Firmware and XDAQ software have been tested with trigger rate >1kHz and 128 events per trigger (DAQ levels set to catch noise)
– DIF temperature and current consumption monitoring on all DIFs

• What is in progress :
– Numerical readout : • Trigger counter implementation in the DIF , in the
Transmited stream to the DAQ and in the stored data format
• Online Digital readout monitoring display

• What has not been done yet :
– Numerical readout : • Software tests of the global state machine for acquisition on all DIFs
in parallel Hope to have time to do it before the end of the beam test
– Analog readout tests will be done with cosmics later
– Calibration of hardrocs will be done with cosmics later
– Power pulsing will be done with cosmics later
