Slide 2 C AMPUS & S TUDENT C ENTERS Slide 3 Learning Objectives - 1 of 1 At the conclusion of this module you will: Understand the services offered by the Box Office System Have a general knowledge of the reason behind the Box Office System Understand the different type of tickets the system can produce Understand the forms to be completed and the deadlines Slide 4 C AMPUS & S TUDENT C ENTERS What is the Box Office System? 1 of 1 Press Enter to Continue WCSU developed the Box Office System as means to address Connecticut state law that require pre-printed and pre-numbered tickets to control admission to student events where an admission fee is charged. The system maintains all financial records and maintains the patron file of all customers. The system assumes all responsibility for the collection of fees and transfers those fees to the organization (less any costs). Slide 5 C AMPUS & S TUDENT C ENTERS Box Office Services 1 of 3 Press Enter to Continue The Box Office System provides ticket and sales support for all events where there is an admission charge, raffle tickets, trip sales and sign-ups, and any other program that needs ticket support. Box Office personnel will sell the tickets and handle any paperwork that needs to be distributed with the tickets (travel due warning and emergency contact forms). WCSU students tickets are not made available on-line since IDs must be verified. As with any tickets purchased on-line, there are web fees associated with the purchase. Tickets can be consigned to a student leader for direct sales by the student. This method is mainly used for raffle tickets. The student is responsible for the tickets and all money collected (see Consigned Tickets). Slide 8 C AMPUS & S TUDENT C ENTERS Where are the Box Office Located? 1 of 2 Press Enter to Continue There are permanent box offices on campus located at the Information Desks of the Midtown Student Center and Westside Campus Center Day of show box offices are located in the Visual and Performing Arts Center and the ONeill Center that operates during productions held in those venues Slide 9 C AMPUS & S TUDENT C ENTERS Where is the Box Office Located? 2 of 2 Press Enter to Continue Temporary box office services will be provided at most campus locations for time of event sales, including Berkshire Gym, Warner Hall, Ives Concert Hall, Ives Concert Park and any residence hall A temporary box office can also be set-up for offcampus events Slide 10 C AMPUS & S TUDENT C ENTERS Forms of Payment Press Enter to Continue The Box Office System accepts the following forms of payment: Cash at all locations Credit Cards at all campus locations ConnectCash accepted only at the Information Desks Slide 11 C AMPUS & S TUDENT C ENTERS Box Office Fees Press Enter to Continue There are fees associated with the Box Office system: Student organizations pay a ticket printing fee of $.15 on all tickets sold and consigned tickets returned An hourly labor expense for the Box Office personnel selling tickets or ushering an event Credit card fees associated with our acceptance of credit cards; no fee for Connect Cash The event/performance set-up fee is waived for student organizations Slide 12 C AMPUS & S TUDENT C ENTERS Buyer Types Press Enter to Continue The Box Office system tracks the type of purchaser, i.e. WCSU student, general public, senior citizen, child, non-WCSU student, etc. through the use of buyer types. When completing the ticket request form there will be a place to indicate the type of buyer and the amount to be charged for the ticket for each type. Slide 13 C AMPUS & S TUDENT C ENTERS Consigning Tickets Press Enter to Continue Under certain conditions, student leaders may receive tickets to sell which are not paid for. This is called Consigning Tickets. The person who consigns the tickets is responsible for returning the money for all tickets sold and returning all unsold tickets. If any unsold tickets are not returned, the student is responsible for the value of ticket. See the Box Office staff to receive consigned tickets.
