The chimes are slowly sounding, "Lead me on, thou kindly light,"

And the echo says resounding, "Where are my dear friends to

The Ames basketball team was called out tor the first time last week by Coach Harter Walter. Sweeney, Holmes , and Porterfield from the last year's squad will be lost this year. Prospects tor this year's team, however, are very strong In the Aggie camp for Capt. Boynton, Aldrich, Bragdon, Hahn, Morgan, Toml1nson, and several others from the last year's squad wl11 again be In action . Besides these, every member of the freshmen squad with the exception of one man has returned.

"Seniors Welcome Freshman Girls" reads a headllne in the DaUy Texan. That seems to be a general tendency in most schools, especailly &mong the senior men.

Laws at the University of Texas have passed resolutions to keep their walks clear of tobacco spit and cigarette snipes.

Class spirit broke loose one day last week at the University of Kanlias to such a degree that the noise made by the students while indulging in some Impromptu rushes and rallies forced professors to dismiss their classes. The campus was In a state of wild disorder trom 9 o'clock in the morning until noon.

Prof. S. M. Woodward is going to Cedar Rapids this week to inspect the river and help the city plan a tew improvements along the water front.
