Get real-world experience reporting politicaland public affairs news, Winter 2015
24 credits of communications courses based at the BYU Salt Lake Center

What Comms students are saying about theexperience:
I loved th e Capitol experienc e becauseof how mu ch I learned . I was th rowndirect ly in to someth ing that fo rced me to
step up and g ave me real l i fe exp erience. It real ly h elped improv e my sk i l l s as areporter. . . I feel l ike the best way to learnis b y actual exper ience.
Having (Comms) 321 in Salt Lake was anincredible experience. It felt like more of aninternship than a class, and that becameeven more apparent as I described theexperience on my resume. The most valuable
part for me was learning the power of storytelling. Often times, the legislation thatI covered could be dry at face value, but it
taught me to find the narrative grist by delving into topics and into the lives ofreal people of influence.
