    PROVINCE OF SASKATCHEWAN

    R.M. OF ABERDEEN NO. 373

    BYLAW NO. 9407

    WHEREAS it is deemed expedient to pass a bylaw in respect to controlling and keeping of

    livestock, animals and birds in non-agricultural areas of the Rural Municipality of Aberdeen:

    NOW THEREFORE the council of the Rural Municipality of Aberdeen No. 373 enacts as

    follows:

    1. TITLE

    This Bylaw shall be known as The Rural Municipality of Aberdeen Livestock and

    Poultry Bylaw and may be referred to as The Livestock and Poultry Bylaw.

    2. DEFINITIONS

    For the purpose of this Bylaw, the definitions and interpretations given in this Section

    Shall govern:

    2.1 Country Residential means an area zoned C.R. under the Rural Municipality

    of Aberdeen Zoning Bylaw;

    2.2 Livestock means horses, cattle, sheep, goats;

    2.3 Poultry means turkeys, ducks, geese, chickens, swans, pigeons, pheasants andincludes all domestic fowl.

    2.4 Zoning District shall mean a zoning district pursuant to the Rural Municipalityof Aberdeen No. 373 Zoning Bylaw.

    3. APPLICATION

    3.1 Unless otherwise provided in this Bylaw no person shall herd livestock at any

    time within the limits of any Country Residential District situated in the

    Municipality.

    3.2 Unless otherwise provided in this Bylaw no person shall graze any livestock nor

    shall any livestock be permitted to graze at any time within any CountryResidential District situated in the Municipality.

    3.3 Unless otherwise permitted under 3.4 of this Bylaw no person shall keep or raise

    any poultry at any time within any Country Residential District in the

    Municipality.

    3.4.1 On any site located within a Country Residential Zone, it shall e permissible to

    keep or raise the following number of animals per site acre:

    Horses: 1 per five acres

    Rabbits: 1 per two acres

    Poultry (not including exotic birds): 1 per acre

    3.4.2 For the purposes of calculating the number of permitted animals, a fractional

    allocation shall be rounded up to the next whole number.

    3.4.3 Notwithstanding the foregoing, on any site located within a Country ResidentialZone which is 40 acres or more in size, it shall be permissible to substitute

    cattle for up to half of the allowable number of horse, and to substitute sheepand/or goats for up to two thirds of the allowable number of Rabbits.

    3.5 No person shall keep, raise, harbour or have custody of any animal in any Country

    Residential Zone (save for dogs and cats), except as expressly allowed by thisbylaw.

    3.6 All animals shall be properly harboured and cared for.

    3.7 Any shelter or structure erected for the purpose of keeping livestock or poultry

    shall be erected in accordance with the provisions of the Building andZoning Bylaws of the municipality.

    3.8 No person shall keep, own, possess, harour or have custody of any swine or minkin any Zoning District other than the AR Agricultural Resource District.

    4. PENALTY

    Any person found guilty of a violation of this Bylaw shall be subject to the penalty

    provided for in the General Penalty Bylaw of this Municipality.
