Is breakfast really that important? Well, the answer is YES! Breakfast fuels you up for the day and gets you started. Every meal you eat gives you energy and perks you up. Breakfast, being the first meal you have in your day is your extra jump start!

If you skip breakfast, or have an unhealthy one you aren’t going to feel as good throughout the day. Sometimes skipping breakfast may put you on the track to weight gain or heart disease. Also it can lead to aches in your stomach, headaches, and exhaustion. People who skip breakfast also tend to have a slightly lower metabolism.

You should try to maintain the time you have breakfast. An appropriate time to have breakfast would be within one or two hours of waking.

Pop tarts appeal to kids everywhere as a delicious breakfast. But the pop tart really is only a breakfast bar that is pure SUGAR!!

Sugar is not a breakfast!!

Sugar is indeed not a breakfast. People all across America are not eating breakfast. People think it may not be that important or they might think it is to time consuming in their regular schedule. But, there is a difference depending on what you eat for breakfast. Some people eat an unhealthy breakfast which is not good either.

In your breakfast you want protein and fiber. Protein can be found in low fat meats, vegetables, and fruits. So try to incorporate those foods in your breakfast.

Fiber can come from whole grains, vegetables, and fruits. You also try to have a breakfast that has both fiber and protein like fruit!

Breakfast’s such as:-Raisin Bran-Donuts-Cheese or bacon breakfast burgers-Pastries/Scones-Pre-sweetened cereals…ARE NOT NUTRITIOUS OR HEALTHY FOR YOU!!!!!

These are not foods you would want to incorporate into your daily breakfast.

You also don’t want to have too little of a breakfast. Proportions are very important when it comes to eating your meals. You want to try to have a balanced breakfast. Not too much, and not too little. If you have too much of a serving it could lead to obesity and or weight gain.

First lady Michelle Obama is making a difference. She is taking a stand against child obesity. Her campaign is called Let’s Move, it encourages kids to get up, get going, and eat healthier.

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) 25 million kids are overweight.

Weighing too much when you are a child puts you at a greater risk of having type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol.

Michelle Obama set up a “White House Garden” which, as you could imagine, is a garden at the famous presidential White House. She continues to use it as an example to encourage kids to eat nourishing foods, and make good choices. She cares for the garden with help from local elementary school children.

Michelle Obama states, “The beauty of it is we don’t need to be 100% of the way there. If we get 20% of the way there, we will change the health status of our kids for a generation.”
