BYC - YOUNG FORUM – 2017
Date: 21-07-2017
St. Britto’s Group of Institutions, in association with the SEEK FOUNDATION, organized
Young Forum on 21st July 2017. The ignition for Young Forum was the interaction of
Honourable (Late) President Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. The Inaugural function was
started with the prayer song by the choir group of St. Britto’s School. The Introduction
of Seek Foundation was given by
Mrs.Prema.The snippets of
Young Forum 2015-2017
highlighted the main events of
Young Forum.For enlightening
the function, the tiny - tot of the
pre- KG bore a sapling which
was passed on to pre-primary
child, carried it to the primary ,
the high school , higher
secondary , an undergraduate , a
post graduate, a professor, to
the Principal of St.Britto’s
College Dr.ThamasPonraj, and then to the Chief Guest Mrs.Neerja Malik (an
Inspirational Speaker, an Ambassador and Mascot of Pinkathon and also an author of a
book titled “I inspire”). The sapling was planted and watered. The Chief Guest shared
few words on how to bring up the
children with love and affection.
The Young Forum was conducted for the students of LKG to XII std. Various competitions were conducted in different levels. Story Telling, Ring-O-Rosesand Poetry Fest was related to Nature. On spot topics were given for Limerick Writing, Sonnet Writing, Spin a yarn, I-Connect to show case the intellectual talents of the children. There was a PPT presentation based on the Health Issues related to Obesity and diet
plan, Social Networking sites and Digi Money. To bring the importance of agriculture in our lives, the student were asked to use new techniques and make a business model adding value to the existing agricultural product.

HEALTH IS WEALTH
Date: 18-07-2017 Venue: SMR Hall
The students of class ll-A conducted the special assembly on the topic “Health is
wealth“ on 18th July 2017 at SMR Hall.The program started with a prayer song.A
special song was sung by the girls and the significance of the day was delivered by
Mathangi.The skit based on the topic –“Say no to junk food” was performed.Tamil
speech delivered highlighted was about the benefits of the fruits. A Video was played
to create awareness to the students on how to stay fit and healthy.Mevintha prepared
and displayed two variety of healthy snack and briefed the nutritious value of it.
Vita walk – a Ramp walk was performed by students who had dressed themselves up
with vegetables and fruits to help the audience realize the importance of eating
healthy food. All the Students were interviewed by the Principal which made the
children understand the implication of healthy food and the evils of junk food.

AUGUST
SCOUTS & GUIDES PATROL TRAINING CAMP
Patrol Training Camp was held at
Eellan Sharma Memorial
Matriculation School, Sholinganallur
from 3rd to 6th August. 10 Scouts and
10 Guides along with 3 teachers
Mrs. Jayanthi, Mrs. Joyce and Mr. Raja
Raman from our school participated
in the camp. It was a wonderful
experience for students as well as
teachers.
ROYAL GRID LOCK
Date: 04-08-2017 Venue- St. Britto’s Academy
St Britto’s Academy hosted “Royal Grid Lock” the mega cultural event based on the
theme ”Believe You Can”. The theme invokes sportive spirit among the students in
and around the city and has created a platform to showcase their talents. The year
2017 has marked an outstanding performance, 26 schools participated and competed
in various competitions. The chief guests were the special invitees of the day, Mr Sam
Anton - Film_Director of Tamil Film Industry and Mr Kalidas Jeyaraman-Actor in
Malayalam Film Industry .
The inauguration of the event took place in the SMR hall at 9.30 am. The Chief guest
inaugurated the event with the lighting of the lamp and then the choir enchanted the
audience with their melodious voice praising God for his presence and guidance
through out the day. There were various’ Dance Events’ such as- the Retro dance, Diya
dance, Yoga dance and Martial dance. There were’ Dramas’ to enact, entitled as -
Cherish or Perish, Cultural Portrayal of India. The topics given for’ Creative Strokes

Art’ contest were-Colouring Nature, Fantasy Characters and’ Pencil sketch of
monuments’. There were’ Wall Paintings’ contest on the topic ‘Indian Culture’. There
were also other competitions such as- Jam, Dumb charades Adzap, Adapt tune.
Shipwreck , Channel Surfing etc.
The events were deligently organised within the school premises. The judges ,
appointed for the various events were well equipped in the field of art and music. They
appreciated the vibrant performances of the students and declared the winners in the
Validatory function.The awards had been categorized with the specific events. The
winners for Dance and Drama received’-Young talent Award’. ‘Artist Award” for
Creative Strokes.” Best of the Best Award” was given to the winners of Jam, Dumb
charades, Adzap. Adaptune, Shipwreck and Channel- Surfing.
There was thundering applause from the audience, as they heard the over all award
being announced. Lalaji Memorial Omega International Residential School has won
the over all award- honoured by the Rolling trophy and Vels Vidyashram is the
Runner’s up. The Chief guest delivered a motivating speech. He gave much importance
to the need for arranging such a fantabulous
programme and appreciated the students for their laudable performances. Everyone
enjoyed the cultural fest that revealed many aspects of our culture and traditions.
Indeed it was a glorious event! We look ahead for the coming year.

YOUR CHAMPION QUOTIENT SCHOLARSHIP (YCQ) 2017-18
Date: 08-08-2017 Venue: St. Britto’s Academy
The Times of India – Your Champion Quotient Scholarship (YCQ) 2017-18 was held on
August 8, 2017 at St. Britto’s Academy, Velachery, Chennai.
Around 650 students from classes 5 to 10 participated today in Times YCQ2017,
Competitive Examination. The main aim is to encourage students to look beyond their
textual knowledge and establish a relationship between theory and application of
concepts learnt. Times YCQ in school is an excellent opportunity for students to think
from different angles or simply to think out of the box.
ENGLISH HANDWRITING COMPIETITON
Students participated in English Handwriting Competition of Rangotsav Celebration on 09.08.2017.

The special assembly on “ SAFETY “was organized on 10th August, 2017. The students of class ll-B conducted the special assembly in SMR Hall. The program started with a prayer song followed by the reading from the Holy Bible and prayer. Welcome speech was delivered by Sai charan. A special song was sung by the girls and the significance of the day was delivered by Siddharth. The skit was based on the topic –Stay away from strangers. Tamil and Hindi speech about the importance of Safety was delivered. A Video was played to give an awareness to the students on safety. Demo was conducted on How to use first aid kit. Vice Principal addressed the gathering and made the children understand the importance of Safety. Vote of thanks was proposed by Keerthi Sri. The program was concluded with the National Anthem. Learning outcome:
Students understood the importance of safety in their day today life.

ORANGE DAY

The Orange day was celebrated by UKG C based on the theme SACRIFICE. All
the children came in pretty orange dress and accessories. Parents were invited for the
programme to view their ward’s performance on the stage. The day’s programme
started with the prayer song followed by Bible reading , prayer & Thought for the day
and welcome speech. Kids entertained the gatherings with a wonderful song and
performed cute actions for the song.
Children gave amazing speech about ORANGE COLOUR and also about our
National symbols like PEACOCK, TIGER, BANYAN TREE, LOTUS and FLAG. The kids
dressed as SUBASH CHANDRA BOSE, SUBRAMANIYA BHARATHIYAR, NEHRU and
BHAGAT SINGH performed a ramp walk. A small gift was distributed to the children
relating to the day’s colour. Kids tapped their feet for the song “SHAMINAMINA”. The
kids of LKG and UKG were called on stage to share the views about the programme.
Their conversation on the stage made the audience surprised and happy.
The day’s program was ended with vote of thanks.

BYC-ASSET GIRLS 2017-18
Classes: VI to XII Venue: St.Britto's Academy & St. Britto's Matriculation
ASSET-2017, an Inter-School Sports Competition organized by SEEK Foundation
an NGO in association with St. Britto's Group of Institutions is being held in two
phases. The first phase saw 1050 girls from 44 schools participating and competing
with each other on 19th and 20th August 2017. It was indeed a great sporting event for
all who were gathered for the ASSET-2017. Dignitaries Mr. Thomas Ponraj , Mr.
Lourdusamy Antony, Mrs. Mary Vasanthakumari, Mrs. Joan Rajesh and Mrs. Helena
Gokul inaugurated the events held at St. Britto's Academy & St. Britto's Matriculation.
The girls from various schools displayed their physical skill, team spirit and competed
well with their opponents. Inter-School Sports Tournaments comprised of Throw ball,
Kho-Kho, Volley Ball, Tennikoit, Futsal and Kabbadi. The events were held under 2
categories- std VI to VIII under Juniors and IX to XII under Seniors. All the competitors
and spectators enjoyed themselves and had an unforgettable Sports Meet.
The second Phase was held on 29th and 30th of August – ASSET-2017 for BOYS.

WORLD NATURE CONSERVATION DAY

Main Objectives:
To commemorate the World Nature conservation day.
To create awareness about challenging threats in the environment
To learn to conserve and preserve Nature
To develop a deeper awareness and understanding of Natural resources
To use Natural resources more efficiently
To have concern for the environment and to actively participate in its
improvement and protection

A special assembly was organized to celebrate World Nature conservation day. The program started with a prayer song by the students of class III. The importance and purpose of conservation of nature was highlighted. A special song on Earth was sung by students to depicting care for our planet earth.

Role play on five elements of earth was performed which showcased the importance of
conservation of air, water, soil, trees and animals. The role play enabled the students
to develop deeper awareness and understanding about natural resources. A
presentation on Nature conservation was presented and this enabled students to
understand how to stop pollution to
save the Earth and to preserve the nature for the future generation and for themselves
too. The program concluded with National Anthem. The planned program was
executed well and there is still scope of improvement and betterment.
Learning outcomes:
Children would have understood the factors affecting the need to find
sustainable practices of conserving the nature.
They would be motivated to preserve the nature for the future generation and
for themselves too They would also understand that the state of nature has an impact on human
survival, local and global economics, community life, human health and
wellbeing.

BYC-ASSET 2017 FOR BOYS Date: 29,30 Aug & 1st Sep-2017
Venue: St.Britto's Academy & St. Britto's Matriculation
ASSET-2017, an Inter-School Sports Competition organized by SEEK Foundation an NGO in association with St. Britto’s Group of Institutions was held on 29th, 30th Aug and on 1st Sep at St. Britto's Academy and St. Britto's Matriculation schools. About 1075 students from 46 schools participated. It was indeed a great sporting event for all who were gathered for the ASSET-2017.
The boys from various schools showed their physical skill, team spirit and competed well with their opponents. Inter-School Sports Tournaments comprised of Basket ball, Kho-Kho, Volley Ball, Futsal and Kabbadi. All the competitors and spectators enjoyed and had an unforgettable Sports Meet.

MOTHER MARY FEAST

Mother Mary's Feast Day was celebrated on 8th Sep' 2017. A special assembly was
conducted by the students as a tribute to Our Mother Mary on her birthday.
ANIMAL DAY
Date: 19.09.2017 Venue: SMR Hall
The month of September was focussed around “Domestic animals”. As children share a
special affection towards animals, they enjoyed the fun activities and projects about
animals. Animal day was celebrated on 19th September '17 and Children brought pet
animals to school on 20th September '17.
