That,atleast,isthehope ofthegroupof concerned citizens who worked to finance and place more than 60 new signs along the river bank in Pierre andFortPierre. Thesigns areagentlereminderthat anygarbagedroppednear the Missouri will eventu - ally find its way into the water, said Paul Lepisto, who works for the Izaak Walton League, a conser - vation organization, and led the effort to place the signs. "The signs, we think, are a nice, subtle remind er,"hesaid. The project was fund - ed by the South Dakota Community Foundation through a Community Innovation Grant and includes a second set of sixty signs being placed along the Missouri River in Yankton. The Izaak Walton League part- nered with the cities of Fort Pierre, Pierre and Yankton to get the signs putinplace.
