To develop the mathematical potential of

pupils Measuring the length of different size of lines with centimeter and

meter scale.

In this sections of children are introduced to

the idea of working with two units of

measurement for example:

We will tell to the children's that the meter and centimeter ruler help us

measure length.

The meter ruler is used to measure long or tall things for example:

We can see the meter ruler when we buy cloth for shirts of frocks. And the length of a table height of a

white board, all these objects will be measured in meter and also tell to the students that the short form of

meter is "m"."A meter ruler is 100cm long"

The centimeter ruler is used to pencil, eraser or pins etc.

We use shorter measure is called the centimeter. The short form of centimeter is "cm" A short ruler is 15 cm is long,

and also tell them there are 100 cm in 1 meter 100cm=1meter

In this session, I will ask some questions from the students to check, how much the students understand about this

topic for example:

Which unit we used to measure the smaller things?

Which unit we use to measure the taller thing?

How much long is your centimeter ruler?

How many centimeters are there in 1 meter?

Which unit you will measure a pencil?

If some students couldn't understand the topic, so I will teach those students personally.

Q1: Draw straight lines of these lengths:

a) 5cm =

b) 9 cm =

c) 12 cm =

Q2: Take your ruler:Measure these lines. Write how many centimeters? a)

b)

c)

Q3: Would you use meters (m) or centimeters (cm) to measure these? a)The length of your class room:

b)The length of your eraser:

c) The length of your foot:

Q4: Write > or < in the empty boxes: a) The height of an elephant is  b) The height of your father is c) The length of your pencil is

Q: Write the length in centimeter.
