Anatomy

Fish is able to eat a wide variety of food.

The food is broken down by the esophagus

The food is further digested in the stomach

The liver and pancreas add enzymes and chemicals

The intestine completes the tract.

Digestion

Fish get oxygen from the water not the atmosphere

Fish use gills to breathe

Gills are protected under the operculum

Oxygen is absorbed by a thin membrane which covers the gills

At the same time carbon dioxide is being released from the blood

Respiration

Closed Circulatory System

Heart Pumps in a single loop

From the Heart to Gills

From the Gills to the rest of the body

From the body back to the heart

Two-chambered heart.

Internal Transport

Waste is released as ammonia
