I ordered an empanada, a Salvadorian corn tamale and a pupasa. The pupasa and Salvadorian corn tamale originate from El Salvador. Empanadas originate from all over Latin America. Empanadas consist of dough on the outside and filling on the inside. The filling can have meat, cheese and/or vegetables or fruit. Usually pupasas consist of rice flour on the outside of the patty, and pork meat, cheese and beans on the inside. Finally, the Salvadorian corn tamale has ingredients including pork wrapped in a corn flour tortilla.
