Come Home to the Arts! In this 35th anniversary year, we invite you, as we do each season, to enjoy Tulsa’s many entertainment options all in one place — “Everyone’s Place,” as the PAC was called when it was built in 1977. Only at your Tulsa Performing Arts Center can you experience the extensive range of vibrant cultural events presented by Northeast Oklahoma’s most prestigious arts organizations. Their programs come together in these pages to offer you an overall picture of what is available year-round at Tulsa’s home to the arts.

Can it really be 35 years since conductor Thomas Lewis gave the downbeat and musicians of the Tulsa Philharmonic sent the first notes of Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man wafting out into Chapman Music Hall? Many of you have shared with us your memories of that night, recalling the grace and talent of the evening’s featured performer, Ella Fitzgerald, and the pride you have felt through the years for what the PAC has given our community.

How do we express our deep gratitude to visionaries such as John H. Williams, former Mayor Robert J. LaFortune and others for bringing everyone and everything together to make Tulsa’s dream of a worthy performing arts center a reality? When you see Mr. Williams or Mr. LaFortune around town, and especially at the PAC, please let them know that you appreciate what they accomplished for us and for generations to come. We also thank our core “resident” arts groups. This house is not a home without them.

Join us as we mark 35 great years. We’ll be celebrating throughout this 2011-12 season, and especially during March. Stay tuned for special events dedicated to the PAC’s anniversary.

We sincerely appreciate your support. I’ll see you in the lobby.
