ALUMNI REUNION FOR BATCHES 2000-2007

Alumni reunion was held on Sat 09 Apr at 8 pm at the main campus, PAF-KIET. Alumni

Batches were restricted to Convocation years 2000 to 2007, since around over 4000 graduates

have entered into the market. The strength of these batches exceeded 400 graduates.

Awareness was created through emails, pop up messages on web portal and whats app. The

whats app is the most effective medium and during the period of two weeks prior to the function,

120 alumni confirmed attendance. Batch Ambassadors were nominated who used their own

network to spread the word. All registration was confirmed through online registration.

Instructions related to event were also placed on the College portal. All Alumni and their

spouses were invited for the reunion; No charge was recovered from them.

The highlight of the event was institution of “Best Achiever Award” through a self

nomination process. A total of 6 nominations were received. The College believes that

recognition of their performance in the industry will further boost their motivation. A jury

composed of senior faculty of the College selected the nominees.

The program of event was as under

a) National Anthem and Recitation of Holy Quran

b) Homage to Departed Soul

c) Memory Lane by Alumni

d) Award of Best Achiever Awards

e) Dinner

f) Songs/Skits

It was expected that approximately 100 students (25% of the Total Alumni) will attend

the function but the attendance was moderate. Most of them were accompanied with their

spouses. The faculty members, management and the staff greeted the alumni. It was a befitting

function with cool breeze blowing and the premises decorated with color. The alumni mingled

with the President Air Vice Marshal Tabrez Asif, Dr. Muzzafar---- and the faculty. These

graduates returned to the institute after a lapse of 8 years and saw the development that had

taken place during the intervening period. Most of them loitered around the campus and the

classroom recollecting their memories. Exchange of pleasantries, jokes and reminiscences

marked the event.

The current students of College of Management Sciences assisted in the preparation of

venue and other allied details. The programme commenced at 8.30 pm. A tribute was paid by

the alumni to those departed souls who had died during the course of their study and later on. A

tribute was also paid to Dr. Izhar-ul-Hasan the then vice chancellor of the university who died in

2013. Some of the students/facuty members narrated incidents and refreshed memories of

these late students. Fateha was offered for them. The names of these students are

a) Hira Iqbal of batch 2004 registration no 2172 who expired on 7 September 2007

during the course of her study.

b). Zam Zam of batch 2004 registration no 2729 who expired on May 2007 during

the course of her study.

c). Owais of batch 2005 who died in the Air blue Air crash on 28 July 2012. He

was also accompanied by his wife

The “Best Achiever Award trophies were awarded to

A. Mr. Asif Javed. A graduate of 2005 batch who is the Sole proprietor of Dantex

Weaving & partner of Raj Weaving. He is also the Chairman of Bed wear

Association. During the period 2004 to 2016, he increased the capacity of plant from

6 Machine looms to 94 Machine looms. His other achievements included Member of

trade bodies (Federation of Pakistan chambers of Commerce & Industry), Best

supplier in terms of compliance (local & foreign) by different textile exporters in

Karachi.

B. Mr. Syed Haseeb . A graduate of 2007 batch. He is presently employed as Deputy

Director Specialized Companies Division in (Federal Government – Grade 18). His

main achievements included ISO – 27001 lead auditor, attained professional

qualification; professional risk manager, CFA level – 2. He also played a lead role in

disaster recovery committee at ABLAMC.

C. Mr. Minhaj Burhan. A graduate of 2007 batch. He is presently employed in Dubai.

His main achievements included Oracle HRMS Specialist, also worked as Oracle

HRMS support at Raqmiyat LLC.

All the alumni were presented with a memento and a directory containing the contact

details of their batch mates. Dinner was served at 10 pm. After the dinner the alumni presented

some skits related to faculty and students. Everybody enjoyed the reunion.
