Christmas Stockings By Colleen Messina

 When you get up on Christmas morning, what do you do? Many children look in their stockings. The stockings are o?en by the fireplace. Some stockings are red with white trim. Christmas stockings can be full of treats. Some children get candy canes. Others get round oranges. Small toys can be in the stockings. Why do people hang up stockings? One story is about a poor man. The man had three daughters. The girls washed their stockings. They hung them by the fireplace to dry. Saint Nicholas peeked in the window. He saw the stockings. He felt sorry for the girls. He put some gold in each stocking. Surprise! The girls loved the gold. This is one story about Christmas stockings. There are other stories, too. What do you like to get in your stocking?
