This is what we are doing…
This is an interactive slideshow that is going to teach you all about how to be safe while using the internet and also other kinds of technology we use to communicate.
Goal: We want you to be able to identify what kinds of things are harmful to you over the internet and other technology such as cell phones, gaming, etc…
Be sure to pay attention to what you are reading because their will be a QUIZ at the end!

Cell Phones
Never respond to a text or phone call of a number you don’t know.
Texting is viral, anything sent in a text message can be easily forwarded and shared
Never send provocative images or text messages
Never reveal your cell phone number or passwords online.
Cyber Bullying
Do not respond to rude e-mails, messages, and comments.
If you are being bullied tell a parent or guardian or a teacher at school.
Do not delete your e-mails or the messages being sent to you, have an adult take note of them and date them.
Delete or block those that are bullying you. If you are being bullied by text message ask
your parents to change your phone number and share your new number with those you trust only.
E-mail, IM, and Chat Rooms
Only communicate with people you know.
Have a screen name that does not include your gender, identity, location, or other personal information.
Do not share your passwords with anyone.
Tell a parent if someone you don’t know is trying to e-mail or IM you.
Never open e-mails from unknown senders.
Gaming Find safety features you can
use with all your gaming equipment
Have your gaming consoles in a living room or kitchen, somewhere where you aren’t secluded
Never give out personal information while gaming or agree to meet someone outside of the game.
Never respond to someone who is being rude or bullying while playing the game.
Inappropriate Content
Make sure the computer you are using has filtering mechanisms or pop up blockers.
If you encounter something inappropriate go straight to an adult and tell them.
Immediately turn off your computer if you encounter any inappropriate content.
Predators
Never meet face to face with someone you have met online.
Never talk about inappropriate content with someone you meet online.
Never reveal personal information online. Only post appropriate photos and videos
online. If you question if it is appropriate or not then ask a parent or guardian.
Revealing too Much
Take advantage of all the privacy settings on social networking sites.
Only post appropriate pictures or videos to online.
Passwords should only be shared with parents or guardians.
Do not respond to any e-mails requesting personal information.
Tell a parents right away if there is anything that bothers or frightens you online.
Social Networking
Know all the people you are friends with. Do not befriend someone that you do not know.
Set all of your privacy settings. Do not add any personal information. Do not post any photos or videos that you
don’t want everyone to see. Also if friends are posting photos of you that are inappropriate then unfriend them.
