Family• My name is Elizabeth Taylor.
• I was born at Heathwood, a suburb of London.
• My parents were Francis Lenn Taylor and Sara Sothern, who were Americans living in England.
• I have an older brother named Howard Taylor.
Renunciation• I was originally born as a dual citizen.
• I signed an Oath of Renunciation but crossed out the phrase, “abjure all allegiance and fidelity to the United States”. The U.S. declared my renunciation as invalid.
• One year later I signed it again without the alteration and it was accepted.
Immigration
• In 1977, during my current husband’s, John Warner, Senate campaign, I applied to become a citizen again and was accepted.
Religion
• I was raised Christian Science.
• 1959, when I was 27, I converted to Judaism.
• My Hebrew name was Elisheba Rachel.
Acting• My breakout role was in 1944 when I starred in
National Velvet.
• My parents pushed her to continue acting when I wanted to quit.
• Some of my more famous movies include: A Place in the Sun, Cleopatra, and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
Activism• I was a very big activist for HIV and AIDS-related
projects and charities.
• I helped raise more than $270 million for the cause.
• I cofounded the American Foundation for AIDS Research.
Marriages• Before I actually got married, I was engaged twice to
two different men.• Conrad “Nicky” Hilton (May 6, 1950 – January 29, 1951)• Michael Wilding (February 21, 1952 – January 26, 1957)• Michael Todd (February 2, 1957 – March 22, 1958)• Eddie Fisher (May 12, 1959 – March 6, 1964)• Richard Burton (March 15, 1964 – June 26, 1974)
(October 10, 1975 – July 29, 1976) Sixteen months after divorcing they remarried, but soon separated and redivorced in 1976.
• John Warner (December 4, 1976 – November 7, 1982)• Larry Fortensky (October 6, 1991 – October 31, 1996)
Illnesses• I was hospitalized more that 70 times and had at
least 20 major surgeries.
• I broke my back 5 time, had both of my hips replaced, had a hysterectomy, suffered from dysentery and phlebitis, punctured my esophagus, had a benign brain tumor operation, had skin cancer, had pneumonia twice, and had an emergency tracheotomy.
• I also had a condition that gave me double eyelashes.
Death
• In 2004, I announced that I had been diagnosed with congestive heart failure.
• I died on March 23, 2011 at age 79.
