What is an Exaggerated Immune Response?

• An allergic response to foreign antigens such as pollen and dust.

• Hay Fever – an allergic reaction when your immune system responds to foreign material in the air you breathe. – itchy, puffy, watery eyes

and red, stuffy nose signal changes in the seasons

What is an autoimmune response?

• When antibodies or immune lymphoid cells are produced against the body's own tissues.

• Lupus – a chronic, inflammatory autoimmune disorder where the immune system can’t tell the difference between harmful substances and healthy ones.– Results in an overactive

imune resonse that attacks therwise healthy cells and tissue.
