Coretta Scott King was born on April 27, 1927 in Heiberger, Alabama. She died in
2006 on January 30th by ovarian cancer. She is best known for as wife of Dr. Marin Luther
King. The two of them met in Boston and were married at 18 in June 1953. The family moved to Montgomery, Alabama and then
to Atlanta.They had 4 children.

Information
Coretta Scott King was important because she was a leading
participant in the Civil Rights Movement. Mrs. King traveled
through the world speaking of racial and economic justice, women's and children's right, religious freedom,
the needs of the poor and homeless, full-employment, health car,
education opportunities, ecological sanity, and other important matters.
When her husband died in 1968, Mrs. King spent a majority of her time
developing programs and building the Atlanta-based Martin Luther King
Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change as a living memorial to her husband's life and dream. The King Center today is a 23 acre national
historic park which includes his birth home. This park host over millions of
visitors a year.
